RightsRelay / Digital safety in the public interest

About RightsRelay

Safety is not a test people should have to pass alone.

RightsRelay is an independent digital safety organization working in the public interest. We examine recurring problems, publish practical guidance and provide a structured channel for reporting concerns.

Make risk understandable without making the individual responsible for all of it.

Digital-safety advice often begins and ends with user behaviour: choose a stronger password, inspect every link, share less and stay alert. Those steps can help. They do not prevent a service from being breached, stop unnecessary collection or make a harmful reporting process usable.

RightsRelay works across that gap. We explain what a person can do now while preserving the larger question of who designed, operated or benefited from the system that created the exposure.

A safer digital environment requires informed people, responsible services, proportionate data practices and reporting systems that lead somewhere useful.

Standards for useful public-interest work.

These principles shape what we publish, what the report form asks for and how we describe the limits of our role.

01

Evidence before conclusion

We separate what is directly observable from what is inferred, use authoritative sources where they exist and state uncertainty rather than filling it with confidence.

02

Systems as well as individuals

Personal precautions can reduce harm, but guidance should also identify the product choices, data practices and incentives that created the risk.

03

Action without false certainty

We prioritise useful next steps while being clear about limits. A report, password change or removal request cannot guarantee a particular outcome.

04

Privacy through restraint

We ask for less information, discourage unnecessary disclosure and do not treat sensitive reports as material for attention or advertising.

Conclusions are not for sale.

RightsRelay does not sell favourable coverage, placement in its guidance or guaranteed outcomes from submitted reports. Published material is organised around public usefulness and the quality of available evidence.

Independence also means being precise about what the organization is not. RightsRelay is not a law firm, bank, emergency service, incident- response company or law-enforcement body.

Read how the work is handled

A clear role is part of responsible support.

A created Case does not guarantee investigation, removal, recovery, contact or a particular result. RightsRelay may use the information to understand a pattern or decide whether further review is appropriate.

If someone is in immediate danger, money is actively moving or an account is currently being taken over, contact the relevant local emergency, financial or platform service without waiting for a RightsRelay review.
